How it works
  • Rosuvastatin works by interfering with the body's cholesterol production.
  • Blocks an enzyme: It is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, meaning it blocks the liver enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for making cholesterol.
  • Lowers LDL and triglycerides: By inhibiting this enzyme, rosuvastatin reduces the liver's production of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein or LDL) and fats known as triglycerides.
